ND Club of London Night- Wednesday October 22nd at the Lamb in Russell Square

he Notre Dame Club of London invites you to join us on Wednesday, October 22nd at the Lamb near Russell Square at 6:30 pm for our monthly pub night. We're a week later than normal this month (I totally forgot because the third Wednesday fell so early). The Lamb is well regarded as one of the top pubs in London, is very easy to get to, and is far enough away from the touristy spots that we should be able to actually get inside the the pub...yes, that would be a first in at least the past six months. We had a great turnout in September...hope to see just as many this time too!

Pub: Lamb
Address: 94 Lamb's Conduit Street
Date: Wednesday October 22nd
Time: Anytime after 6:30pm
Directions: Russell Square: Turn right out the tube station on Bernard Street then take the first right into Grenville Street and then left into Guilford Street. Go past the hospital and Lambs Conduit Street is the first > right, you'll see the pub on the left-hand side of the road.

Look forward to seeing everyone out there, as always feel free to give me a call if you have any questions.

Student/Alumni Dinners for Fall Semester

Dear London Alumni,

As is our tradition we will be hosting the first set of Student/Alumni Dinners this Fall Semester for those of you who were not able to participate this past week (or for those of you who would like to host again!). In the past for those of you who may not have participated, the ND London Alumni generally try to schedule a week in the beginning and end of each semester and recommend days for Alumni to invite students (2-4 generally) of the ND London Program into their home or out to a restaurant and host a dinner. It gives the students an opportunity to meet Alumni who have relocated in their careers to London and also offers them some great company and a good home-cooked meal. This activity has been a huge success in the past and I want to thank everyone again who has participated.

The following are days available to host dinners for the students this last set of dinners this Spring term:

Wednesday, October 8 Thursday, October 9

If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of or are a veteran of these dinners please e-mail me your details as follows by Friday, September 26 if you would like to host a dinner. I will relay details to the ND London program and a lottery will be held and then they will send you the name of the students who will join you. Please e-mail me if you have any questions.

Details to send me:

- Your Name - Your e-mail address - Date and Time for your dinner - Location of your dinner - Number of Students you would like to host - Directions to your dinner location/home

I look forward to hearing back from you and helping put these dinners together. Go Irish!

Sincerely,

Conrad Engelhardt Treasurer, Notre Dame Alumni Club of London

ps - Don't forget to RSVP by Friday, September 26. Thanks again.

Help with Organizing Gamewatches

Hello everyone

If you're a semi-regular at Sports Cafe, like organizing things, and have a knack for writing witty e-mails about upcoming games, we'd love some help in coordinating game watches this year. All that's really required is calling ahead to Sports Cafe to make sure they're showing the game (I actually can't remember a time in the last 3.5 years when they haven't), and then sending an e-mail to the club with the details. Every so often, Sports Cafe might offer us a special like chicken fingers and a beer for £5. It's been a while since we've researched other venues, so ideas along that route would be most welcome.

I checked the Sports Cafe Web site and they note that the ND/Penn State game is on at 11 p.m. http://www.thesportscafe.net/calendar.cfm

Here's a link we posted a while back on how to watch games in the U.K...ifyou know of any other tips, please let me know and I'll add them to the list. http://notredamelondon.typepad.com/alumni/2006/09/how_to_watch_nd.html

Ascot Details

Hello everyone!

Excited about Ascot and a few last minute details and info!

We are planning on having three vehicles at Royal Ascot side by side by side in true ND fashion. We have a 6' x 6' blue canopy and should have a ND flag or banner, so look for that. The cars will be parked in Car Park 8 which is inside the race track ring.

As for the food, we have everything pretty much taken care of but if anyone would like to bring a special baked or prepared item, salad, treat, etc please feel free, we have plenty of room to share on our table.

Also BYOB as before, but we have non-alcoholic drinks and a few other alcoholic ones to supplement. Tomorrow we are also handing out fliers for upcoming events and we have a few sign-up sheets for our Wimbledon Dog Track Race Event on September 22 and a Texas Exes Softball Tournament on September 1. Also we will be collecting dues for the ND Alumni Club of London for anyone that would like to be a member and receive discounts on event fees in the future. So please bring your check book or some extra cash if any of these sound interesting. See you all tomorrow then! Cheers on behalf of the ND Alumni Club of London, Conrad Engelhardt (Treasurer)
